I'm pretty sure that will work. I did the same thing with diamond and platinum when I started platinum. So I think as soon as you figure out how to trade in game, you can trade between games.

true, but there's a bigger difference between D/P/Pl and Pl/SS/HG

But they are still all in the same generation. its like trading between ruby and sapphire with firered and leafgreen, you could do that as long as you had the cables. I'm pretty sure the same thing would hold true here.
