Rogue had been sleeping, but lightly. She kept having vivid flashes of dreams that she was afraid to see through, so she let herself toss. She'd just settled when the back of her neck tingled and her ears lead the way into wakefulness- steps. Boots. Worn soles but solid. Trying not to make noise. Then the persons at on the bed and she woke up fully, eyes opening in the dark, but not stirring, and she knew it was Ned.

She let him get mostly undressed before she said, "So where ya been?"

Ned didn't turn to look at her, just sat on the bed and scrubbed both hands back through his hair, making it stand up in spikes.

"Out," he said, and then winced, inwardly. "This wee girl I know was in a bad way. Was keepin' a watch."

She frowned, turning over at that, propping herself up a little on her elbows, t-shirt pulling fetchingly taught across her body.

"A little girl? Is she okay?"

"I don't mean little girl you mean," he said, climbing into bed next to her and lying down with one of his arms curled behind his head. "She was in a bad way."

He knew that he was going to be in trouble when he got home.
