OK, first of all, I don't understand how a pinecone can be a bug. Second, I don't understand how a pinecone can evolve into a bivalve.

I think Pineco is supposed to be a bug with a pinecone disguise. Like the walking stick bug looks like a twig and such. Maybe.

Hm... I always thought that it was like a Pinecone -infested- with bugs. Like. You know how some insects hijack them to nest their babehs? (I think? D:)

And then, the little... thingers... drop out and get bigger and it evolves.

Anyway. I didn't think too much about it. I have more of a problem with a fish evolving into a octopus.
