Wild PKRS?

Jun 10, 2007 19:12

Last night, I went to the yellow tree to see who's been a-likcing. Turns out a level 13 male Heracross was. So I catch him. Normally, this wouldn't be a big deal but when I checked his stats I saw PKRS. Is this the PokeVirus everyone's talking about? Or is it something else ( Read more... )

I think the virus allows for a higher stat increase when the Pokemon gains a level. If you go to a PokeCentre, the nurse will say a blurb about it if that's the case.

Well, I was training my Rapidash earlier in Snowpoint and the nurse healed my Pokemon without the blurb. But he's infected.

Confusion! D8

As far as I know... it doubles EV points gained from battles

Pokerus is awesome for EV training. :3 It doubles the amount of EV's earned per battle.

FOR EXAMPLE: You want to train your Heracross in Speed (...for some reason. >.>). So, you go fight a Zubat. Fainting/Catching a Zubat earns whoever gained experience from the battle +1 Speed. Pokerus doubles that, so you get +2 Speed. Now, say you have one of the Power items you get from the Battle Tower that make your Pokemon gain +4 in Speed no matter what. 4 + 1 = 5. Pokerus doubles that, too, and makes it 10.

To spread it, just put it ADJACENT to a Pokemon in your party, then go fight some wild Pokemon. 1 to 10 battles later (one time it took me 10, but sometimes it happens at 2), that Pokemon next to it will have PKRS. Keep battling and every Pokemon in the party will be infected. :D

Pokerus does go away, however. So, to stop this from happening, put the Pokemon that have it (you always want to have a couple so you can spread it to more party members) back in the PC.

Hope that helps!

That actually made a lot of sense. Thank you! :D

From what I hear even when the pokerus goes away the pokemon still get the boosted EVs when battling. I'm still not sure if that's 100% true or not but a lot of people say it.

oh yeah and the pokerus goes away when the clock on the DS hits 0:00 aka midnight. So to stop them from losing the pokerus just have them in the PC when it's about to hit 12.

If the infected pokemon is in your party, then there's a chance of the "virus" spreading to your other pokemon after every battle. Sorta like Pickup. The virus itself acts like the Macho brace, by doubling the EVs gained when the pokemon defeats an opponent. So if you have the PKRS and Macho Bace equipped, you'd get 4 EVs for every 1 the pokemon normally gives. (fighting 4 zubats would give a +4 increase in Speed instead of +1 when utilizing both)

It can only spread from the original pokemon while in your party, can be spread from others who catch it, and it disappears after a day (if it's still in your party at the end of the day), or so I hear. Then the pokemon can't spread it or get it again.
So basically, put the Heracross in your party, fighting anything a couple times, doesn't even have to be using the Heracross, and see if the PKRS spreads. If it does, you can deposit the Heracross and know that whenever you want you can infect more pokemon.
Or so I hear.

So does it affect the Pokemon in the PC as well? All of my party have been infected but one and that's the one I'm training really hardcore with.

Nope, PC guys are unaffected. You put them in the PC to keep the PKRS alive, basically. If every pokemon you own which has the PKRS is in your party, then the next day you won't be able to spread it to others anymore. It's best to take some random pokemon, like a Buneary you've caught and never used or something, put in your party until it gets the PKRS, then put it back in the PC. That way if you ever want to infect more of your pokemon you just need to put the Buneary back into your party and infect away! (and then put it right back in the PC)
