I just find them so horrifyingly ugly and I never use rock types anyway, but each to their own. I mean, my favourite Pokemon is basically Giratina so, well, I guess I'm not one to judge.
True! I'm not a fan of rock types just because I don't like their appearance (lol, so shallow) but I've heard a few people say they think Nosepass is cute, so... there you go. And Giratina is one of my favorites too! Haters to the left, Giratina is flawless.
I've actually gotten somewhat "lucky" with shiny Pokémon. "Lucky" is a bit hard to define, since my collection includes three Starly and two Bidoof, but. I shouldn't complain, though. The first Starly I got was within my first hour of turning on Diamond (56 minutes, I think). It went on to become an incredibly useful Staraptor, which made me like that line a lot more than I did beforehand.
Probably my best shiny tale is my Weedle. Bored out of my mind one day, I started up Soul Silver and wandered into the Bug Catching Contest. I managed to get a Scyther (I think), but then out of nowhere, a slightly-discolored Weedle approaches me. Needless to say, I didn't hang onto that Scyther for long. The Weedle got me second place in the contest, too!
I've been trying to reset for a shiny Latias (my favorite Pokémon) since yesterday. Eventually, I kinda sorta gave up and used other means of acquiring a shiny Latias. But, I will say that I never really felt like it was a hopeless cause. Uphill battle, definitely, but I knew there was always a

Even though TWO shiny Bidoof is a little on the DO NOT WANT side, the Starlys are pretty cool! I love catching a shiny Pokemon (or any Pokemon, really, if you're just getting it to fill your 'Dex or some such), training it, evolving it and realizing you actually wound up liking it in the end. :')
Fierce shiny Weedle~ shiny Beedrills are so awesome too. My girlfriend loves bug Pokemon so she'd probably have a heart attack if that ever happened during the bug catching contest lmao.

My shinies that are legit consist of a Trapinch I found in Ruby (caught the fucker not knowing what shiny was at the time, it was a different color, so I caught it and tossed it in the PC, afraid that it'd go back to normal colors if it evolved), a Shellos (big whatevs for that one), a Girafirig (collecting dust in my PC in Pearl), and another Trapinch that popped out of an egg. (Go figure that it was a good nature, however, I think it's IVs are shit; I love it anyways, she's my baby).
I'm thinking of soft-resetting when Black gets here, since I won't be in a rush to plough through the game before it's in English. If I do get a shiny Smugleaf, I'd shit bricks. c:
I'm definitely planning to soft reset for a shiny Pokabu in B&W, and I'm hoping that I can get trades for the other two starters in shiny form. *~* I NEED THEM IN MY LIFE.
I got a random shiny Gloom in HeatGold. I was training in that patch of grass south of the Safari Zone for what seemed like hours, and I just randomly stumbled across one. I captured it, but I haven't done anything with it. It's just sitting in my PC, lol.
That's exactly what happened to me with a shiny Tangela. I was training outside Mt. Silver for a super long time and all of a sudden, a shiny Tangela appeared. I caught it, evolved it and then put it away and haven't touched it since, because it definitely wasn't the #1 Pokemon I wanted to find as a shiny lol.
