Question about EV training

I'm new to the concept, so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I understand the part about different Pokemon yielding different EVs that boost stats when leveling up and all, but what I don't understand is how EV distribution works. If you only use one Pokemon against the wild one, then the one you used will get the EV from KOing it. That's ( Read more... )

all pokemon used get EVs.

however, if one pokemon has a power item and the other doesn't, only the one holding it will get the EXTRA EVs. the pokemon not holding anything will just get the normal amount of EVs the wild pokemon distributes.

Pokemon who are holding Exp.Share items will also receive EVs, even if those Pokemon are not used in battle.

Adding to the above comments, anyone who gets exp. in battle from that enemy Pokemon will all get the same amount of EVs, unless they're wearing a power item/Macho Brace/have Pokerus, as mentioned. So for example, if it takes 3 Pokemon without any EV-enhancing hold items/statuses to take down a Rattata, they will all get 1 Speed EV.
