My computer crashed a little over a week ago, so in order to keep myself entertained without internet I started making plushies; one of them a pokeball. I'm kind of new to pattern making, so it was a little rough at first, but I think it came out ok in the end.

I know nothing about patterns though!

Depending on what you want to make, you could probably appropriate, like, a dog pattern into a canine pokemon, and so on. If you've got existing plushies kicking around, study them (or take some apart, if you don't mind) to get a better idea of how they go together.
You might try asking at pkmncollectors too, there are a lot of custom plush makers on there who might be willing to offer tips.

And, yeah, I've been considering tearing apart some of my old plushies. <<;

Take a trip to a thrift store and pick up some cheapo plush, and unpick the seams- you don't have to put them back together, just look and notice how they all connect and interact with each other... it'll help a lot!
For really hard-patterned plush (like... shinx line or electabuzz or things) I either look at an official plush of the character or I make a paper mock up out of paper or cheap fabric, and add darts/lines/markings to determine how to shape the pattern.
Durrrr I don't know how to english good 8( if you don't understand, I could probably use pictures.
