First Competitive Team.

Aug 10, 2008 03:39

Two days past, and I hit the deadline on the spot. Take note; competitive team making isn't easy. This specific one focuses on an angel of solitude and tears, a grand beetle with a fiery fighting spirit, and a very swift knight with a passion for slaying dragons. I'd like to know what you competitive battlers think of it... I'm partially new to ( Read more... )

I like your team. :D My husband has a trained Togekiss and she kicks ass, so there's no need to feel embarrased or anything on your choices. I have a Gallade that eats things alive, and Milotic that does the same stuff that yours does, just with a varied moveset.

Is it legal to have two of the same items in a team, or is this hypothetical?

Thank you! Oh, and hell, I'm not embarrassed. I love these Pokemon. o_o

Well, it won't be legal for people with item clause... so I'm going to have to edit that someway. There are, like someone else said, a choice band set for Gallade but... I don't know, I'll see.

Yeah I was looking at the items and you could probably substitute some items if there is an item clause. Shell bell could replace leftovers...as for choice scarf I dunno xD

I can see you put a lot of effort into your team, I've been developing a team, with all odd pokemon but it has served me well! I've been interested in raising a Milotic...but been lazy on evolving Feebas.

Shell Bell is totally out of the question. It is a terrible item, IMO.

And yes... I did. Took me like, two days. 48 hours.
Odd Pokemon? Like a UU team?

Agreed. I once put a shell bell on a pokemon, and it only healed for like.. 4-7 hp I believe. I immediately removed it for something else.

I would switch Umbreon out for Spirtomb. You'll get a bit more mileage that way, and less weaknesses.

all in all, solid team. Might wanna consider substitute items, tho, in the event that you can only use one of each item. shell bell for leftovers. choice band... mm, dunno.

Argh, the Shell Bell is awful. I'd say find a way to stick Black Sludge in there, but the OP has no Poison-types. If Item Clause comes up, I'd probably stick a Choice Band on Gallade, since it has a decent investment in Speed already. Then I'd go with a Focus Sash on Bronzie just so it can EXPLOOOODDDEE~!

Solid team though.

(maybe switch this with milotic. Toxic Spikes and Stealth Rock can be up at the same time, right?)

Nidoqueen @ Black Sludge
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 252 HP / 216 Def / 40 Spe
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam
- Toxic Spikes

Solves my item clause with a decent tank, immunity to Thunder Wave and Toxic make it a great status absorber. Fire Blast hits Skarm, Forretress and Enemy Bronzong while Ice Beam helps with Dragons and the dreaded Gliscor. This is also a semi-good Heracross counter, which I was told I needed one. Have to be careful with those Toxic Spikes, though... with guts and all. Suggestions?

There's no entry hazard clause as far as I know, so yeah, you can TS and SR away. That being said, Nidoqueen is an interesting choice to bring in over Milotic, because you're trading in a bulky Water for a tank that now has weaknesses to two common attack types (Ice, Ground) and another type that might not see a lot of play with the hardcore crowd, but is definitely represented (Psychic).

Personally, if I were you, I'd have just made the item adjustments and kept Milotic, but if you really wanted to bring in Nidoqueen, then that's as good a set as any to. Of course, the item adjustments are only necessary if Item Clause is in play, and not everyone uses it. I know I don't.

This team is good I would like to battle it. I think Umbreon should lead cause he can trap their starter and potentially ruin their strategy or if ya want to max the teams speed and annoy the fuck out of people put a Ninjask in over Umbreon

I really like your team. :D Milotic is a God (or in your case, a Goddess) and Umbreon works really well too (I have both of them on my competitive team). I say, stick your chest out proudly! It's a personalized and very well-balanced team, which is hard to come across.
