From the Birth of Mewtwo short. She was Fuji's daughter and she died, so he became obsessed with cloning as a way to bring her back. His experiments attracted Giovanni's attention and he found himself on the Mewtwo project, but kept trying to revive his daughter. And the clones could communicate, so Mewtwo and Ambertwo had some conversations telepathically before she and the other clones failed.

I always thought so you could just tell them apart. Otherwise, the kids in the audience might get confused. Mewtwo didn't need them because he already stood out, same with Ambertwo.

Proof we should not think too hard about things in Pokemon. I doubt that it had any other significance besides that.

They're just there to make the clones look badass/stronger. Like charizard with a bunch of orange jagged markings makes it look like its omg tough.

you're reading too much into it, it's just a kids anime

Plus in the first games you find journals that say something like "Mew gave birth. We named the newborn Mewtwo."

But in the show Giovanni's all "I am creating the strongest Pokemon ahaha I'm awesome"

WAY TO BE CONSISTENT NINTENDO D:

I donno, I thought the games said that Mew's baby was augmented in the womb (or at least that the scientists worked on it at some point).

But if you really want inconsistant, how about Deoxys? In the game it was the result of experiments done on a virus, but on the show it came on a meteor fully formed like Jenova.

I don't remember, lol, just those one of two entries always come to mind. XD

Maybe Deoxys intends to sail the cosmos with this planet as its vessel.
