From the same people who are bringing you LJ Pokeymans - The MonotypesHeh, nah, no cheesy intros, but I thought I'd try my hand at making a quick, 3x3 battle teams with each generation's starters. For repeats from the ones I posted on the monotype teams, I'll post different movesets. Anyway, let's start with the Kanto starters, who are my favorite ( Read more... )

This is really the only way to set up a special Charizard without getting totally iced by Rock-types

What about Focus Blast? That usually works for me.

Dammit, you know what, you raise a good point. I used Bulbapedia for the moveset and FB wasn't there, but I checked on Marrilland's Pokédex FAQ off GameFAQs and it was there.

Lesson? Trust Marriland!

Still though, the Sunnybeam set not only boosts Flamethrower, but Solarbeam takes care of Water-types too. Plus FB isn't exactly the most accurate move. I guess either strategy works.

Ooh, nice. I always love to see the starters getting some action. *A* Can't wait to see your Johto Starter team, as they're my favorites. XD

Also, for a full Gen-1 team, I'd probably want a psychic type and an electric type in there. Alakazam and Raichu come to mind. :o

You might want to go with Leftovers on Venusaur instead of Big Root. Unless your opponent has a huuuge amount of HP, you'll usually get more with Leech Seed + Leftovers than you would with Leech Seed + Big Root.

A Sunny Day set is going to be very tough to use on Charizard, especially if your opponent has Stealth Rock up. It might be better to run this Charizard as a lead, that way you don't have to worry about people who try to set up SR on turn one. Also, seconding Winter's suggestion of Focus Blast. ^^b

Blastoise looks good - I actually use a pretty similar Blastoise myself. Bulky Rapid Spin FTW. ^^b

They're not in order of use, but Dex order. I like starting out with a Sweeper anyway, so Charizard would probably go lead. If it's against anything except a Water, Rock or Electric type, it should survive long enough to set up a SD.
