It's one of those rare days where Maxie appears to have ventured out of that cave system on the western side of the island; he's reasonably out in the open, actually, if underneath the cover of a few trees, sitting on a good-sized rock in the shade. He appears to be in a reasonably good mood, if that smirk he has going on is any indication; he seems to have stolen located something to eat, even, as he's picking at a fairly large and ridiculously fluffy pastry, taking it apart with his fingers and eating it slowly, clearly enjoying it for the time being.
For those who do notice him, it might not be too long before you notice a few other things in his immediate area - like, say, the pokeballs scattered around the base of that rock he's sitting on. It'll become immediately obvious that they aren't his, given that they've been deeply charred by a powerful Flamethrower and effectively welded shut; look for a moment more and it'll become a bit more clear whom they actually do belong to. Or, well, you might at least have a fair guess; you can't exactly ask him, but the figure sprawled out on the ground at Maxie’s feet might be a good place to start.

Oh, as for that figure? Maxie's paying him no mind for now, having dealt with and more or less discarded him - but don't worry, he's still alive. It might take a moment to notice, but he's still breathing; just unconscious. And even if he weren't currently sitting nearby with dessert, it would probably be pretty obvious that it was Maxie's doing, anyway; the figure is red-haired and wearing a rather familiar asymmetrically-patterned jacket, after all - identical to Maxie's own. Or, well, it would be, if Maxie hadn't apparently taken it upon himself to deface it; the emblem usually adorning the black patch of fabric over the left side has been really unceremoniously removed.
Clearly, Maxie and his double there have finally met; one could say that they had a bit of a...chat, earlier. Doesn’t seem to have gone too well.
