[Today is a good day, if a bit warm, though that would be expected of the season; the sun is out in full force, the water is clear...and Maxie has apparently decided that now is a great time to sit on the beach and draw some really stupid-looking figures in the sand with the aid of the pointy end of a stick. Exactly what he's doodling over there is ( Read more... )

[It's been awhile since the last time Archie and Maxie have crossed paths. In the meantime he's continued training, attempting to mimic the nearly-suicidal style of battling that Maxie has. It hasn't ended very well. He's still recovering from a massive bite to the arm (Sharpedo hasn't quite gotten over that) and that burn inflicted in their last battle is slowly healing too. He would look pretty bad off if his sleeves didn't cover both injuries nicely ( ... )

[Yes. Yes, he is! And everything is amazing today.

With the exception, perhaps, of the Sharpedo that's looking like it's coming dangerously close to wanting to ruin another pair of Maxie's pants by rubbing up against them, and for a moment Maxie is tempted to swat at it with that stick; he refrains, however, because he has just been asked...approximately half a question! Oh well, he can fill in the blanks; he'll just be taking another sip of booze before answering.]

What does it look like, Archie?

Oh you bitch! [Archie laughs though, and flops on the sand next to Maxie.] So where'd you get alcohol, huh? An' where can I get my hands on some? [He's not going to attempt to take what's left of Maxie's booze, but damn is he lucky!]

You seem to be in a really good mood. [Maybe Maxie's just a happy drunk, but the fact that he's actively getting drunk could say something. Archie isn't sure - he doesn't know this version of Maxie well enough to guess what he's up to - assuming he's up to anything at all.]

[Well, part of it at least is due to the alcohol in general; Maxie has always been a pretty chill drunk - not so much happy as incredibly laid-back and the sort you'd have to tell that he should probably move if something next to him randomly caught fire, because otherwise he'd just sit there telling you in a rather casual manner that it's getting very warm.

But really? He'll just be summing up the answers to pretty much everything he was just asked in one sentence, if you don't mind.]

The island has been good to me lately.

[Children playing with the sand feels right. Old men doing it feels... off to N. Even the amnesiac one.

It's kind of weird.

But who is he to stop fun! No sir, he'd rather try and coax Reshiram into the ocean. It's quite the spectacle.]

Reshiram, you're a giant dragon, the ocean isn't going to harm you! And we'll wash off the salt when we're done playing, okay? [The look the legendary gives him is basically "You are out of your mind and the same thing would be accomplished if I were to not go into the sea. Do not patronize me! It is the Lugia's domain, as well as Kyogre's, and I would hate to meet either of the legendary beasts of water."]

I'm not, Reshiram, I just want you to loosen up and have some fun. Those two wouldn't attack another legendary without warning or meaning, right? [... :| he'd rather not find out, thank you very much.]

[Oh, Maxie is hardly old, as haggard though his appearance looks; best that that sort of thought is kept to yourself, boy.

Not that it really...matters what you think, nor does what you're doing really matter, either - are you...talking to that thing? Not as most do, but like there's a conversation to be had? - because as soon as he realizes he's not alone, his attention is immediately dragged to the...the...

hell is that thing

excuse Maxie while he stares at your giant white featherdragon with the jet turbine coming out the back, will you]

...what am I even looking at.

[Both of them turn to look at him, and Reshiram is very thankful for the distraction. More time out of the domain of the sea beasts.]

One of the creators of Unova, Reshiram. He's very powerful and magnificent looking, isn't he? [... Not that he really knows anything more about it--]

That's one way of wording it.

[Well, now that he's verified that what he's looking at has definitely crawled out of Unova - not that he's...surprised at that at all, looking at it - he studies it for a moment longer, headtilting a bit, before returning to his doodling in the sand.]

In what way did it create your region, hm?

[Oh, it's...it's Maxie.

Archie told us to steer clear of you, but - you look like you're in a much better mood than you were last time we saw you.]

...Hello.

[That seems to amuse him, really - come now, boy, how do you think he is?]

Rather well, all things considered.

[The sun may be in full force, but it does seem to be getting just a little hazy around the edges with a certain person's arrival. The beach isn't a location that Agatha has visited much since her arrival, but with a genuine lack of things to do other than explore the island and spy on people, the latter does get more interesting to an extent as time goes on.

Not that the residents here are really worth spying on. Is that supposed to be art? And the tune, that's just worse.

Aha. There's the source of it. She gives him a bemused look over as she shakes her head. How pathetic. ]

That seems like a phenomenal waste of time.

[Well, well. Normally that sort of remark would earn her some sort of pithy response; as it is, he just kind of raises his head long enough to verify that no, he has no clue who this person is, and no, he really doesn't see a reason to find out, before returning to the aimless doodling.

At the very least he's sparing her ears from the humming now, however, though he's smirking quite a bit.]

Care to tell me what, if anything, about this place isn't a phenomenal waste of time?

[Agatha has to laugh a bit at that. So there is a brain in there.]

Nothing at all when it comes down to it. This happens to just be one of the saddest displays I've seen so far. [Sad as in pathetic, of course.] Is this the behavior that forms after being here for far too long? It's a wonder I haven't seen more of it.

Mm, no. We just draw lots once in a while to see whose turn it is to entertain the newcomers; I happened to draw the short straw this time around.

[He's still smirking quite a bit, but his tone is perfectly straightforward, there.]

I take it you haven't been here long.

[[As soon as Mitch saw his boss on the beach, he immediately trots over to report in. As he approches, he notices the bottle in the sand. Well! Some things never change, even when you go to a weird cross-dimensional island...thing place.

When he gets close by, Mitch notices the drawings in the sand. Wow. Either his boss is really drunk, or he's really pleased. Either way, it's not too bad of a day!]]

Those are some pretty drawings you got there, sir!

[Believe it or not, he's currently more pleased than drunk!

...or...at least he...thinks he is anyway it's five o'clock somewhere and today is good, so he'll just be looking up at you from under those locks of hair that seem to have a habit of falling in his face.]

Not really, Mitch.

[Aaaaaaaand despite his words, his tone is amused.]

Anything interesting for me?

must_do_well July 30 2011, 07:39:39 UTC
Hey, art is subjective!

[[And with another cheeky grin, Mitch will sit himself next to you there, Maxie.]]

Nothin' too interesting to report. Things are pretty calm on the island. You been up to much? How's the eye?

Reply

oceansbane July 30 2011, 07:47:11 UTC
It's doing about as well as can be expected, really - you've been taking good care of me, you know~

[And it does look decidedly less like hell now! It's doing well, really, as long as we're talking about the eye itself and not the...vision...

Technicalities, however, and nothing to be dwelled on for too long!]

And while it has been fairly calm here lately, that isn't to say this place doesn't come with its share of surprises, Mitch.
