Maxie isn't going to directly approach - that would involve getting a bit too damp for his liking right now, and Tentacruel's presence isn't exactly the most welcome one either. Truce or not, he isn't about to go near the goddamn water while that thing is nearby.

Thankfully, since Ruby doesn't realize it, Mimi is a little more on the ball as she grabs him by the back of his shirt and lifts him about six feet out of the water.

...Not that this will necessarily stop tentacle attacks, but it'll at least slow this down. Meanwhile, Ruby will just sway unawares of the incoming danger.]

[Courtney hasn't failed to notice the way that the island's Hoenners seem to be attracted to this beach, and given her, ah, interactions with several of them so far, she's mostly been trying to avoid any more encounters that aren't absolutely unavoidable. Unfortunately, she's run into some rather disturbing news recently - namely, that there's a double of her here who's the real deal, not just someone with her face and name, and who's most importantly still loyal to the Maxie who wants her dead. Hiding out from her ex-fellow admins is one thing, but if her own self comes after her ( ... )
