[Well, technically, Ho-oh's only his bird in the most technical of senses. It's kind of a mutual partnership based on respect, since he never really 'caught' this legendary so much as it stalked him all over Orre and found him worthy enough to fight beside.

Speaking of, Ho-oh senses the girl's presence and looks up, locking her in a stare. Wes follows the bird's line of sight and blinks at the street performer.]

[Oh hey, Trip. Wes briefly notes the kid's presence, but doesn't seem to immediately recognize him. It's been over a year since he last saw the boy, and their encounter had been brief, so he doesn't quite remember him, so he pays him little mind.

Ho-oh, on the other hand, decides to take a few steps toward Trip, not quite stepping between the two blondes, but showing obvious interest in the younger man.]

Hmm? What's up? [It takes him a moment, but it finally sinks in where he's seen Trip before.] Oh, it's you. Hey, how've you been, kid? [Oh god, he's smiling.]

[Ho-oh blinks at the flash, but once it realizes what just happened, it fluffs up its feathers and practically preens. Wes lightly knocks on the bird's chest with his knuckles, chuckling.]

Ho-oh is... kind of the guardian of Orre or something like that. I didn't 'get' it so much as it 'got' me. It's... kind of a long story. What about you?

[Oh yeah! Now he remembers. That was fun. Wes lets out a hearty laugh at the memory, and slides his shades up to atop his head to get a clearer look at Brendan.]

Wes notices Yellow immediately, and his expression falls. Grateful for the shades still hiding his eyes, Wes looks away, unable to think of anything appropriate to say other than]

[At first she's thinking it might be another Wes. I mean, this Wes clearly just arrived, so if it was her Wes, it would mean he had to have left. And after a fight like that, what were the chances of-]

[Yeah, no, it's Awesome Island, it would, and that reaction is very telling.]

....hey. How long...were you gone?

[The island is a douche like that.]

A year... I think. [It felt longer. Much longer. So much had happened back home that he'd almost dismissed the entire island as a dream.]
