[If you're out by the beach today, you may notice a certain Team Aqua boss sitting on a rocky outcropping above the ocean. How he got up there is a mystery. He's throwing pebbles into the water, but it looks like he's looking for something in the distance. Below, his Sharpedo is taking quite the pleasure in chasing after whatever fish Pokemon he

No, no. You're not listening very well, and putting words in my mouth besides. I'm not surprised that you'd think of it that way, though. Every version of you is egotistical. Every version.
You see, my rival's death is a means to an end. Not the end itself.
[He shifts his leg so that he's no longer bracing against it, lowering himself down to drape idly over the top of that rock formation; he toys with one of those smooth pebbles scattered across the top, running it back and forth over his fingers.]
I've explained this to one of you before, but for now I suppose that I shall humor you - my rival has a great deal of my respect. He wouldn't be my rival, otherwise; he wouldn't be worth acknowledging. He's special to me, in a way that very few people are. It'll almost be a shame when he dies.
At the same time, it's necessary. He's currently the biggest threat to my goals, and I can't let that stand if I want any sort of real victory. Killing him won't prove ( ... )

That's not what... Fine. I guess I just misheard. [And silently; let's just drop it at that.]

[One of those rocks is getting tossed idly into the water as he says it, his gaze following it down.]
Or do I not exist for you?

You're reading much too far into everything I say, you know. Though I suppose it's nice to hear that some version of me is giving you hell properly.

Better to read too deep into things than to ignore 'em. [He crosses his arms and continues to glare up at Maxie. He's on the defensive now, and everyone knows Archie doesn't do defensive. He's the one to make the first strike. Why else would he have a Sharpedo with a terribly low defense?]
Tch, you would say that. Can't say he's givin' me hell now though; seems he's not here. [He's rather smug about that, despite the fact that those meddling kids are here - he can deal with them, not with that Maxie. Though this one is easily becoming just as annoying...]

[Well, now - that's the first truly interesting thing you've said so far. He's still draped lazily over that rock, but he's definitely at least looking at you now.]
Believe me, it's in your best interest that it stays that way.

Yeah, figured that one out for myself. Wouldn't want to rip the island apart in a territory war... [Hey wait a minute. If you're here and your rival is here...] Why haven't you two killed one another yet? You're both here, right? What's stoppin' you from goin' at each other's throats?

Mm...we're having a bit of a ceasefire right now, you could say.
Another thing that's in everyone's best interest.

What the hell would stop you two from fighting here? Even if Kyogre and Groudon are back in Hoenn and there's no way to accomplish our goals there's no reason to stop fighting! Yeah, it might be better for everyone else, but I'd never agree to any sort of peace with him!

If that's how you're going to be, it would be best if you leave the turf wars to the real leaders of these organizations. You're not the first that I've had to tell to go play with his toys elsewhere, but I'll gladly extend that treatment to you if you get in my way.

Since we're all from different worlds we're all equal - at least, that's what it should be like. 'Course that's never how things turn out. Maybe you two were the first here, who knows? Who cares? All that matters is in the end one team leads and the others follow. I'm not a follower.
[Archie you don't even know what you're dealing with.] If that's how you wanna play it, fine. I'm game. Let's see who the real leaders are. Let's see who can really gain control of this damn island.

You're all so dull!
[He looks down the sheer edge of the outcropping as though judging the distance; after a brief moment's deliberation, he decides to skip picking his way down the side in favor of taking the shortest route between Point A and Point B and jumping down.
It's a good drop, but he's able to stand up after landing in the shallows, flicking his hair back out of his face as he does so. His clothes saturate easily, his coat wicking up water quickly, but for the time being he doesn't seem to mind it very much.
He's much closer now, Archie.]
I'm not here to fight you, you know. More to offer you a warning.
If you ever attack my body like that again while I'm not present, I suggest you actually get a killstrike in next time. I have half a mind to make you suffer the consequences now, but I can be a reasonable man. Especially ( ... )

[He listens, not interrupting once - he's not sure what to say - but it sure seems that his Pokemon know what to do. Both of them are readying attacks without his commands - Ice Beam from Tentacruel and Waterfall from Sharpedo. Archie holds out a hand to stall his Pokemon.] Sharpedo, Tentacruel. [Both stop what they're doing and give their boss a confused expression. Sharpedo begins swimming in slow circles around Archie, almost protectively while Tentacruel swims closer. Archie doesn't take any notice.]
Outnumbered doesn't mean I'm outmatched, Maxie. But I've got no intention of killin' you, no matter how... screwed up your world is. [Better to say that then mention how screwed up he is.] I sure as hell wanna get back, but I'm not going to ( ... )
