Thank you! I was trying to do a darker version of Meowth, so I'm surprised you find him semi-cute. I deviated a lot from the original cartoon version, but that was my goal. He was supposed to appear as a ''friendly monster''.
I'm glad you like the eyes, because cat's eyes are a real challenge to perfect. They're so abstract. And also, I know Meowth's eyes are white in the original, because his design is soley based on the Maneki-Neko, but I wanted to give him a more nocturnal look, so the eyes became yellow in the final version. They also stand out from his fur, because I had a hard time at getting the right color. The baige looked too yellow for me, so I settled with white fur. Oh, well.
Thank you! I'm glad YOU think so, because he freaks the heck out of me! LOL
I was trying NOT to do a nose. As a matter of fact, I accidentally drew one, and was trying to cover it up. Because you can still see it, I might have to go back to the original and add more chalk in that area. Thanks for pointing that out.
Wow, I think this is the first time I've ever had second thoughts about wanting a Meowth! I never thought about how creepy the lack of nose was before now. Haha, this is just fantastic. I can see the resemblance to Burton's Cheshire Cat design. It really works well for Meowth, I think. :)
I agree with crasherwake, you did an excellent job on the eyes. The highlights and shading in and around them are just perfect! They also somehow give Meowth a gentler feel, I think, and make it look more friendly.
Out of curiosity, did you draw this in pastels? I've always had a hard time with them, so I applaud you for that (if it's the case). Also, are the charm, face and whiskers cut out from separate pieces of paper? It really has an interesting effect, making it really pop out from the background.

I love how he looks a little sad, kind of cute, and kind of scary.

I also like how you did the nose, since Meowth doesn't really have a nose. Definitely a challenge.
