Paid my REI tax today

...and I got some camping gear. I've decided to go with an ultralight minimalist approach to camping. When I was a kid, we got hand-me-down everything, so I decided to get something nice. We went kayaking this morning and that inspired me to do more with nature sooner.

Yeah, I could see spending several hundred dollars a year there. Annually. You'd have to be buying something really inexpensive for it not to be worth getting a membership.

I concur with the inflated bed mat.. I slept like a baby during our trip to Palo Duro while my tentmate tossed and turned all night. A good rule of thumb.. with anything, really, is that you get what you pay for. (Except for luxury items.)

I am; my lease runs out end of September and I anticipate that I'll be moving, but aside from that I don't have any huge plans that would interfere. Keep me in the loop.

Watch out with the hydration bladder pocket-- I've found that the moment you stuff things into your pack, the bladder gets squished, and wants to empty its contents rather more quickly than you'd like.
Otherwise, it's all good. Mmmm... toys...

I'm thinking of getting a locking mouthpiece for mine for just that reason. For normal bike riding, the locks are overkill IMO, but I could see where a bunch of pressure on it might change that. Thanks for the tip.
