Yesterday, I did a test commute to work. It was a day off, and I had a new (to me) bike to ride.

The one time my chain came off, it stopped me pretty quickly. I only really used it at stop lights to lock up the front wheel so I could lift the back wheel and move the pedal to the top of the stroke. I have also used it successfully for slowing me down going down some hills. I do hope to have my new bakes before my next ride on it. I cut the cable housing too short for the new bar setup, so I might have to get some more. Since I now have 3 bikes, I should stop ignoring/pillaging the others and give them some bike love. I swiped the eggbeaters off of my Cannondale for yesterday's ride. I have a new derailleur for the Iron Horse that I need to either put on myself or take it to the shop to have done. Maybe next weekend?

I've thought about commuting on Wednesdays. That would leave me ready to ride easily by the weekend. It also keeps me out of Monday/Friday traffic and allows me to attend Fu class on T/Th night.

Woot. http://treadly.net/2007/02/16/notebook-computer-on-bike/

Unfortunately, the most interesting link on that is dead. I'd recommend a good backpack though. I love my Axio, but it may be more geared towards motorcycle luggage than bicycle. They have a lot more options, though.

those packs don't look like they handle sweat very well. I'd be more inclined to get a hard case for the laptop and put that in my camelbak man-purse.

However, I just don't want to carry around my desktop replacement with me at all. I'm down with VPNs and all that. I might be able to just leave the laptop at work.
