Jumping on the photo a day bandwagon

I wanted to do this too and henriksdal reminded me by already posting to her LJ. No idea if I'll lose interest or not, but here's todays's attempt:

That's a great shot, it looks like they are just heading into battle.

Julie and I both like that photo a lot.

It looks almost hand-painted.

This is a really nice shot, stands out well. I look forward to seeing more.

How are you with photoshop? I seem to remember you doing that one of Kirsty where you played with the colours but what about simple photo tidying/tweaking? There are a couple of very simple tweaks you could make that would give it more space/drama - nothing huge, just pulling the black down a little and shopping out the building comme ça:

I don't have any photo editing software installed at present - it's kind of something I never got round to sorting out when I rebuilt this laptop! I will see to that at some point soon, but my biggest problem is generally time! I just barely have enough to do the stuff I need to do daily without incorporating fun stuff in.

I think it would be very worth putting in some time to get good at some quick and dirty colour fixing, blemish smoothing, contrast and cropping. It can make a big difference in situations where you just want to clean a pic up a bit - nothing major necessarily but those unavoidable little things.

I like, for example, not having to worry about someone having a spot or something when I'm taking a portrait, because I'll remove it before anyone sees it (whereas I wouldn't remove moles, for example), or to straighten up a horizon, or fix a party photo where the light's too orange.

Looking at the other shots you've uploaded from the Carabosse, there are some really good things - you obviously have a good eye. Some stuff (the grain for example) I'm sure you'll quickly learn how to fix when you take the pic with your camera settings, but occasionally cropping a pic a little can make all the difference and hey, if we didn't want to be able to do that sort of thing easily, why would we be using digitals?

Oh and aspect fixed - that was my fault - I scaled it down to not crowd friends pages!
