Hey guys.

I made another IJ account, again, sailing-mishap. Which will be for the most part public over there, just like here. And The Circus-Lights account is now my fic/art journal, the equivalent to early_pearly here ( Read more... )

I really wish you'd stay, but I can kind of understand the motivation to go. While I don't/have never posted anything similar to the kind of thing that's getting people banned, I'm becoming extremely wary of LJ's new gestapo policies. Evidently, you can now also get banned for linking to inappropriate NC-17 stuff, and lord knows I've done and will do that.
Also - file sharing. Isn't that going to be next? In which case, my ass is fried.

What I'd hate to see go is the community. If everyone left LJ, I'd never be able to reconnect with all of my friends and communities elsewhere.

Blah, screw LJ with a rusty fork.

Exactly. I'm in sports fandom, where you'd have to look very VERY hard to find underage porn, but like you said, what's next? How do I know they won't start going all C&D on RPF/RPS writers/artists.

And even though you can only get in trouble if you're reported by someone, and my fandom's rather tight-knit, it's like you said: Gestapo. Squash out all those who aren't "worthy". Just because I'm not getting caught doesn't mean they're not making me feel as such. And I've had to deal with that sort of BS enough in my life.

You shouldn't feel guilty or ashamed at all! You're not some overzealous fangirl whose misspellings are killing fandom either. I don't see how LJ would be so kid-friendly when there are worse offenders out there!

I hope IJ will be kind to you. Does making an entry FO make a difference? I'm curious.

Oh, well, not within my own fandom and all that, but I think more the idea of fandom and slash. They're being so condescending towards us, like we're freaky nonfunctioning twits just because our hobby happens to be in the online world. And of course the things that actually COULD cause harm, like the anorexia communities, they glaze over. So yeah, it does in a way make me feel like this defect, like something's wrong with me ( ... )

Yeah, well, you shouldn't, because millions of slash fans don't feel the same way no matter what people maintaining LJ say.

Those anorexia people should be the ones feeling bad and wrong. Those emo kids with the wrist-cutting should feel bad (not that they don't feel bad already, but you get the point).

And why are they so serious about journals all of a sudden? Okay, trolls need to be removed who create accounts just for bashing purposes, but those that present serious issues should be nixed or at least contacted by LJ saying that they will be nixed.

You haven't known me long enough, but I have like, deep-rooted problems that extend past LJ in relation to slash. I'm not gonna get into them right now, but suffice to say, the last thing I need is LJ breathing down my neck and the necks of any other person, proud or not, for the mere fact that their hobby is "wrong". And I agree, re: the anorexics and emos (especially as some who has dealt with problems with self-harm). Those communities that promote it are the ones that should be monitored, and warned, and banned, but ElJay sees no danger in them, not as much as Potter pron anyway. Nothin' wrong with "aspiring to be thin" (their words), doncha know.

And why are they so serious about journals all of a sudden? Now, this I am not entirely sure about (most I've gotten links for has been through Fandom_wank, and my brain is thisclose to asplodey, so I've probably even read why at some point, and just don't know it). I mean, the all of a sudden ( ... )
