The Boards, Pre-Dawn Thursday Morning

So, Karla had come up with a plan. A plan that even she wasn't sure would work; for one thing, it hinged on a double agent that Karla wasn't entirely sure she trusted--though, to be far, Karla wasn't big on trusting most people right now--and for another, it meant she was voluntarily going to be Imperio'd. That was...dangerous. To say the least. ( Read more... )

"This is a horrible idea." Lady Ghanima may be Karla's Sayyadina, but that did not mean she had to approve of the immense risk being undertaken. "For one, it requires you to be obedient even after I break the Imperio."

And Karla was...headstrong. And occasionally completely foolish.

"I'd offer to give her a few lessons on that," said the aforementioned double agent as she joined them. "But we haven't really got the time."

Not that Cara was dubious on the merits of this plan...no wait, she was.

"The whole obedience thing is why I'm arguing for the real Imperio," Karla said, chin up. "Because odds are far more likely that if I'm not, I'll end up tossed into Detention myself. Or worse. So a few hours being Imperio'd will buy me some credibility and then they won't be watching me as hard when I do break it."

She offered Cara a stiff nod. "Better I get Imperio'd now and have a plan to break it, then get Imperio'd later because I wasn't able to keep my cool."

"Then I will agree to this on one condition," Ghanima said, looking between the girls. "Karla, I wish to use a mild hypnosis and spice dosage, to remove your memory of the currently-used safe-houses until I speak the memetic trigger to release it."

Just in case the Imperio didn't break properly, or someone tried to break Ghanima's conditioning early.

After they'd finished part one of the plan with Ghanima, Cara had left the Boards as invisibly and silently as a Mord'Sith knew how, taking care that no one would see her exit. Half an hour later, Karla had done the same, though her attempts at sneaking were more for show than actual effect. According to the plan, Cara was supposed to "catch" her and then subdue her to bring her in.

Karla had decided to make the catching part as easy as possible. As fun as it might be to get taken in by some completely different Loyalist, she thought it might be best not to take any more chances that strictly necessary.

[For Loyalist broadcast, please!]

If Cara was trying to catch her for real, she might have just snuck up on Karla and applied a quick agiel to the back of her neck, but a show was in order. Plus she needed to work out some frustration before teaching that stupid class.

"What have we here?" she drawled, sauntering out onto the street and drawing her agiels.

Karla whirled around, hands coming up in a defensive position. "Looks like a Loyalist bitch out for walkies," she sneered. "What's the matter, Cara? Piddled on too many pink carpets to be allowed back inside?"

Please remember this was only for show, Cara. Please?

Cara raised an eyebrow. Even if it was for show, she did actually have to respond as if it wasn't to keep up the illusion.

"Someone needs a lesson in manners," Cara said. "Possibly one in insults as well."
