Not wanting to let her go but wanting to get away from all these people, Xander just picked her up in his arms and turned back the way he'd come. For this reunion to go any further, they needed a little privacy.

Saffron didn't protest one bit as Xander scooped her up, just curled against him and wrapped her arms loosely around his neck. "Where are you taking me?" she asked softly, smiling even as her cheeks were wet with tears. "I must be a sight. Am I getting dumped in the shower and scrubbed 'till I'm shiny?" The clothes she had on were headed for the garbage, that was for damn sure.

Xander had been headed for home because that was the only thing on his mind: Getting Helen safe in their own home. It was only when she mentioned a shower that he realized how dirty she was. "Oh." He said, as it required effort for him to change his currently one-track mind. "Right. Shower. Yeah...let's get you cleaned up."

He would have said 'Then let's go home' but he was afraid his voice would crack on the last word.

Home, safe at home with her man, was definitely a place Saffron wanted to be, but she was a wreck, and she was pretty sure there was dried blood in her hair, so a shower had to come first. But Xander would be there, and that made everything all right.
