• I'm guessing you know the basics

Ok first step first, choose your picture, personally I think this technique works better when it's a photo, screen cap etc. Of only one person but if your screen cap has more than one person in it then it should still work fine. I used this picture.

Now only a new file 200x200, resize your image and get it to fit inside the file. Like this:



Now desaturate:



Now go to [Levels] and set it to something in the area of [Input levels - 24 - 3.95 - 171]:



Then I went and resized my image again and then cropped it, through it matters on the size of the image, some pictures you can crop straight away. Anyway I resized it (150x150, but your choice what size):



And cropped it. Now my icon looks like this:



Play around with your icon like you want but I simply added some texts and got the final product:



If this doesn't work please tell me I'm new to this tutorial thing but if it does please show me what you have done. :D
