I'm working with a beer trolley these days. It's 32 60 ml syringes connected to plastic tubing that feeds through a hollow mouthpiece from which a rat can lick and receive a drip of fluid. There is a valve on the tubing that opens or closes and controls fluid flow. When the rat licks three times on the mouthpiece the valve will be switched to open

Isn't beer on little low on the psychoactives food chain for you? Was there a budget cut?

Heh, ethanol is a pretty simple molecule, and alcoholism isn't a primary interest of mine. It's been interesting to learn the use of this equipment though, because self-administration of any drug is a useful paradigm. Nevertheless I hope to return myself to my normal channel soon, focussing mostly on cannabinoids.

Au contraire on the budget cut - this lab is pretty well equipped!
