The Americans is my current favorite television program: if you liked the 2011 remake of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, you'd probably enjoy this show; I think fans of Alias might like it, too. However, it has improved in the second half of the season, which is no real surprise to me, given Dollhouse: Tancharoen and Whedon took several episodes to really find their focus with that series, but once they did, it packed a wallop. I wouldn't say that AoS has had anywhere near that level of punch, but it's a different show. There was a scene with Ron Glass that I found powerful -- he's an even better actor than I realized ( ... )

I think with SHIELD it may just be the visual aesthetic working against the actors; i can't seem to latch onto them as i could with Franz* or Olivia in Dollhouse even when the episodes were weak.
Musketeers is worth catching just for upcoming Dr 12 Peter Capaldi - he's great in it.
The early episodes were terrible but once the show settled i was hooked.
*I would be happier maybe with Cabin in the Woods as a show (?!?) - loved the cast in that.

when i realised i had started to pitch 'Much Ado About Nothing the TV Series; Beatrice and Benedict together again and this time they're not just fighting each other, they're fighting crime, paranormal crime.'
At which fortuitous juncture i stopped and contemplated the petard i was about to hoist myself upon.
