5x13 'The Outsiders' was fine. Not brilliant, like the last two weeks but fine. Rodney is a genius.

But instead...

I know this is a rant that has been ranted many times before, but: why do the writers have it in for Rodney McKay? Case in point, his introduction:

I have never known what crawled up that serviceman's butt -- McKay hadn't been there long enough to earn a rep, so wtf, seriously? (I make myself feel better by imagining AUs where crazy-sprung-from-Leavenworth-Sheppard is there and goes for the guy's throat, and the like.) eta for clarification: the guy who served the tainted lunch is who I mean. Also, I don't understand why they were able to send McKay to Russia. He doesn't work for Area 52 (aka the SGC), he works for Area 51, and was borrowed by a third-party agent (who it turns out was a bad guy). Seriously, if I was the person in charge of Area 51, Hammond would have felt the lash of my tongue on that score. Poaching much?
