so, true story, i'm compiling a list of my ultimate fic recs (FOR LIFE AND BEYOND) and i had to force myself to limit your contributions to three, which made me sad because i should really just link to your post and be done with it.
Ahahaha, you have to link me to these fic recs, I'll bet they're awesome. And liek, which are the three? Cause looking back over this list it is so painfully obvious to see the brief middle period where I hit my stride and all the godawful stuff on either side. There are things on here I can't even remember writing, and yes, I am very much going down the plausible deniability route.
Also, Em, your Olympics posts have cracked me up so hard over the last two weeks, I am such a lameass for not commenting on them.
I think my ultimate fic recs post (for hp fic) would be filled with age-old canon-before-canon-was stuff. Like 'Russian Roulette' and 'Boys' Own Camping Adventure' and stuff, because, y'know, anything post Triwizard Tournament is for suckers. :D
- the cheap mechanics of melodrama - cleverness before common sense and perhaps homo hominis lupis, although i'm struggling with my upper limit of fics but oh god. seriously, half of your collection would be in there if i could.
ahahaha i'm so glad people actually read those posts instead of ... defriending me for vomiting capslock all over my LJ. :|
I love when you talk about your stories. I wish you that always, even more than write them (ha ha I am such a dork). Like god I would have all these questions about your writing that I just want to print them all and sit for hours with you and give you the third grade. Huh
( ... )
OK, so you're just making me blush like a massive, massive girl.
And seriously, any question you have, anytime, just ping it my way and you'll end up with more ramble than you bargained for. And it will probably be quite dorky, in not an endearing way.
What is hilarious about so many of my fics is that I can so easily tie them to 'studying for IB history exam', 'writing an essay on Virginia Woolf', 'acting in a Stoppard play', they are so nakedly me working out my obsessions in fic form.
sorry. I get all creepy fangirly on you sometimes.

Hee. I think we all do that to some extent, I guess. Like, every time I catch a silly metaphor about shipwrecks in my stories I go "oh, here is when I was starting with my Adrienne Rich obssession" or, even sadder, how the piece that got me an A+ in writing class last year was about gay footballers. So yep. Working out obssessions in fic form. believe me, I know the feeling.
I have long been obsessed with Figures of Eight in all its overwrought glory, oh god. Your HP fic is just so rich with ideas and possibility, and in all honesty I think it has enhanced my enjoyment of the series as a whole. I'm going to stalk this page forever.

Aghh, Figures of Eight. Hah, it's so painful to look back at some of this writing, but there's a middle period-- probably after Figures of Eight and through Arise on the Ruins and Cartography and Homo Homini Lupus where it was just so damn clear I was in love with Harry Potter-- and not the books, at all, but the books along with the fandom and the whole experience of the thing, you know?
(And that is just the loveliest thing to say, ever.)
