Oh, oh, oh. This was POI at its most brilliant. I loved every second of this episode. It was fantastic and I'm so excited about the show and everything we learned in it!
I agree! I thought it was excellent, and loved how it tied everyone's past together. It was sad, though, watching Harold's efforts to help others go so terribly awry, thanks to Dillinger. Good nod to the past with his name, too. I thought it was really interesting to see that John acted on his doubts in a good way, on more than one occasion, even when he was working for the CIA. Great ep. I wonder if Dillinger's death was what convinced Harold to tell John about the Machine, or if he did it because he already knew that Reese was a better person than Dillinger, by the time they met?
But why did Finch have to bury Dillinger in the woods? Surely Finch had covered his tracks when he hired Dillinger and fixed it so he couldn't be traced to him. He could have anonymously paid for a nice funeral. Was it out of guilt? Did he think it was his fault for getting Dillinger mixed up in his quest? Dillinger is the dick who got greedy and got himself killed, and caused a shitload of hurt on others by letting the laptop go.

Their pasts were so beautifully linked - and their futures? clearly Root is the Dependent Variable in the code.
