Now, after reading this, I don't think the machine was being cold and calculating using the CIA director and his missing daughter to help Harold get John from Snow. It was the machine's caring way to reunite a father and daughter and at the same time keeping its Sys Admin from getting himself killed rescuing it's Asset Reese.

This is just AWESOME! And it is exactly how I'm desperately hoping canon will allow The Machine to develop as a character. Logically, but with a conscience and "heart" shaped by its Creator, Finch.
