I'll give it a 5-minute Blitz... patient_0 August 20 2011, 19:13:58 UTC

When I Grow Up I Want to Be a Housecat

I will curl in the sun on your windowsill
because I'm no longer the one
who works:
you will feed me love me stroke me
when I want it-- you will not touch me
when I have no use for you. You will work
while I stretch and follow the sun as it moves
through the house you bought,
which is my house. I will take what I want.
I am so lovely you will accept it,
you will mourn me when I leave
slipping into another heaven
farther from your working world.

Work-a-day, go pay for my luxury.

I would not be your dog;
you are the master of dogs.
A dog must be your doorman,
greet you as you return, Sir,
keep out the riff-raff, Sir.

I am master of all ease.
I will manage from your couch,
or a spot of sunlight,
the affairs of leisure.
I'll be here when you get back,

Takin' it easy for all you sinners.
