[For Anthony] Dinoplot aftermath

Aug 15, 2007 13:01

A long, hot shower, a bit of real food and drink and a change of clothes had revitalised Julian, making him feel human again. It also made him regret his behaviour toward Anthony, as they'd both been upset, tired and under a fair amount of stress. He knew Anthony well enough to know that his reaction was the man's way of showing his concern ( Read more... )

Anthony was anxious. After their earlier conversation he didn't know if Julian would really be returning, or even if it would be best if he did so. He was reading, as usual, but the little signs of his nervousness - restlessness, periodic tugs at his cuff or a stray lock of hair - were beginning to show.

But then he heard his name and looked up with a flicker of a soft frown. Slowly, he closed the book. "Julian."

Anthony was only half paying attention, eyes partly closed, just pleased that Julian was there. But he happened to glance over, his expression darkening just slightly as he saw the bandaged gash. "Are you all right?" he asked with mild concern.

"Hmm?" Julian opened his eyes again, his gaze following Anthony's to his leg. He tugged the material down over the bandage quickly, but of course that was too little too late. "Oh, yes. I'm fine, it's just a...a bite." He'd sort of forgotten to mention that part. Of course, that could be because he didn't want to explain just why he'd been bitten.

Anthony slowly arched a brow.

"You didn't tell me you got bitten." He wasn't sure whether to be amused or worried.

He wasn't sure whether he'd been supposed to mention it before or after he'd been snapped at for something beyond his control. But there was no point in getting upset over it, so Julian just sighed, closing his eyes again. "I forgot to mention it. It was some bloody feathered dinosaur." He snorted quietly and gave a faint shake of his head. "I didn't know they had feathers before this weekend."

Anthony gave a soft snort. Julian was fine, and the image of small, feathered dinosaurs chasing after the poet was an amusing one. "Sounds like quite the adventure you had. The doctors looked at it? You're all right?"

"I'd really rather have not had it," Julian remarked with a faint smile. "Yes, they cleaned it up. I'm to see them again immediately if I feel feverish or it looks red or swollen." He dragged his eyes open again and smiled at Anthony. "Really, it doesn't even hurt that much. Not nearly as bad as my damn ankle." He shifted said ankle with a slight wince, trying to get as comfortable as possible. Not that it would matter much. He was so bloody tired, and just lying here was making him terribly drowsy.
