labels are one of those tricky topics that almost always leads to dissension. Most times, it is just someone else trying to apply a word they understand to a situation to see if they may have grasped the major concept. To some people that then feels like they are getting marginalized. But at the same time, without talking, making words, having descriptors...how are we supposed to understand each other

You are a freak, but not 'cause of the penis thing. ... Anyhow. I'm a biologist, a knitter, spinner, weaver, pagan, Wiccan (sensu lato), woman, mommy, scientist, priestess, etc. But I've never referred to myself as a feminist. It is too confining to be defined that way. I am of the wild and radical opinion that balance is a good thing. That men and women are different, yes, but we need each other as a species. Not a single one of us would be here without male and female uniting. Let me know when you've got that parthenogenesis thing figured out and only then is it feasible to eliminate an entire gender or to hate them or to assume that one is better than another. DNA is the perfect representation of balance between male and female, two strands twining around each other, complimentary but otherwise indistinguishable, making life. Mitochondrial DNA comes from your mother, but it can't exist by itself
