I know - I'm sorry! I initially wrote this only for myself because I needed to see what I thought it would take to drive this Oliver over the edge. This was the most horrible thing I could think of - watching his wife and baby die and being unable to do anything to help them. But I decided to post it because I thought it would help readers understand his mental state in the coming story. Anyway, thanks for reading! I'll be posting the update to If You Want Me this week :)

Oh god. I honestly don't know if I'll be able to read Into the Dark, because this alone was absolutely heartbreaking and depressing. But still, very interested to see where you'll take this, and always happy to see a post from you (even if this put me in a weird mood). :)

Sorry! I know this was really dark and that's not something readers usually have to worry about with my stories. I initially wrote it just for me - I was making character profiles for the characters in this Oliver's universe, and I wanted to see what I thought it would take to send him over the edge. I also wanted to paint a picture of what this Chloe's world was like and how different she was from the Chloe we know - her parents are still married, she has a little sister, etc. But I finally decided to post it because I thought it would help explain Oliver's mental state in Into the Dark. If it helps, I'll be posting an update to If You Want Me some time this week. Thanks for reading :)

I can't wait to see how different/similar the mirror verse is compare to the initial verse.

I'm glad you enjoyed the angst here - I know it's not for everyone, hence that warning I put up since I didn't want to catch anyone off guard. The initial verse probably has the most differences, and the mirrorverse has more in common with show canon. But as always, I change things whenever I feel like it. Thanks for reading! I'll start posting Into the Dark before the end of the month :)

DDDDDDD: God....so heartbreaking. I nearly lost it when Oliver was sitting on the floor of the nursery. She’s gone and there’s a hole in the world where she used to be - this is exactly what it feels like when you lose someone close to you. It just feels like something is constantly missing - even when you're not directly thinking about the loss.

I love these mirrorverse stories where you can play with their backgrounds a bit. Powerful stuff and I'm curious to see where you take the next part - I'm definitely hooked. As dark as you've promised it to be, I trust you as a writer and I know you'll knock it out of the park.

(Can't wait for the conclusion to If You Want Me. Love that one!!)

Oh, thank you! It means a lot that you trust my plan for the story because it really is a step outside what I'm comfortable writing. I treat these stories as writing exercises wherein I practice different genres. I seem to have a natural aptitude for romantic comedy, but smut and angst do not come naturally to me. I initially wrote this prequel with no intention of posting it - it was just for me. I was exploring the characters of this universe, the relationship between Chloe and Oliver, and what I thought it would take to push Oliver over the edge. But then I thought it would help the reader understand Oliver's mental state in the coming story, so I bit the bullet and posted it. I have some other little drabbles that flesh out this Chloe, her relationship with her family (particularly her sister) and with Oliver - I haven't decided if I'll post them separately or include them as part of the story, but they'll probably be posted since we see these characters again in Into the Dark. And I'm playing with some scenes in If You ( ... )

I know! It was difficult to write, truthfully. I'll start posting the story later this month. Thanks for reading!
