Hmm.....
I have yet to watch the movie (I'm going after Finals Week is over, LOL), but I remember being spoiled about the Spock/Uhura and being...unsure. I mean, I remember my dad showing me an old episode where Spock and Uhura are playing music/singing, and I remember noticing potential 'cause she totally was caressing his ears. :D
So they're definitely not subtle about it now, huh? :P
All I can say is that it's funny how Zach Quinto characters are being forced to shack up with women--when quite clearly, he AND his characters would probably enjoy men much more. :D

I remained unspoiled for the movie, and the pairing took me completely by surprised. I'm no less angered by it now than I was yesterday. This is truly an injustice to both of the characters, in my mind. Certain subtext should remain so, especially since the scene you mention is one of the very very very very few 'tense' scenes they ever had.

Grrrrrr!!!!

As for Zachary Quinto and his unfortunate characters... Amazingly enough, I see both Sylar and Spock as being relatively canonically asexual. I do believe that Sylar was intrigued by Mohinder (duh) and had more sexual tension with him than anybody else. Hell yes. As for Spock, he had his Vulcan 'heat' thing going on. To be in a rather random relationship with a crew member (very illogical and dangerous to begin with), just no! God dammit, NO!

*RAGES MORE*

I completely agree. I mean, I don't think I felt as strongly when i saw it as you, mostly it slammed me completely out of the movie for the moment because I lost track of the dialogue at that point, but seriously, i HATED it. Uhura couldn't be a strong character unless she was getting it on with people? I mean, i can take her getting undressed, I can ever take the her being Spock's fav at the academy, but WAY did we have to have a romance?! It ruins the strength of the character ( ... )

I'm so sad that the potential for Uhura is practically ruined. I know she's still strong, but her relationship with Spock completely undermines why she's in the crew, in my opinion...

And you're right. Spock would know it wasn't logical to get involved with a crew member. He'd have better control of his emotions than that, especially considering the few cracks he's ever had. This is bullshit!

I still love the movie, but when the same scenes happen I was groaning and slouching back into my seat because I was suddenly back in my own head. <--- EXACTLY! You just took the words from my mouth. Well, mind... You just explained it much better than I ever good. Precisely!

And god dammit, people suck! Why can't they see the pairing, though had some subtext from the show (very little) should have been left being so?! God dammit! ... I'm still furious about this, I really am!

If he tells her that he loves her and he holds her hand I may have to not see this movie.

Wow, I'm way past due for this... He doesn't. Thank god. But it's still pretty bad.. and comes completely out of nowhere. O_o
