Um...I hate to tell you this but I downloaded both MP3 and the M4B musical version and the zip file came up invalid when it try to unzip it. Can you re-upload it again?
I'm sorry that happened! I'll need to ask the mods about the zip files on the website, but I just reuploaded them to sendspace so here are those links: mp3 and m4b
Actually, I just tried downloading both those zipped files from the website, and they worked fine. And I also heard from two other people who'd listened to it yesterday, so it seems more likely that the problem is on your end. I'll let the mods know though, and hopefully the Sendspace links do work for you.
I am interested in listening to this, and am wondering if it relies a lot of knowledge on canon, or if I can get away with general Arthurian knowledge?
(Not sure if sophinisba is watching this post, so I'm going to answer just in case).
I seem to remember it being fairly easy to understand from an Arthurian legends POV--perhaps a general synopsis of the basic show-canon would help. My brief glance at the text seems to support this.
Hey there, this is part of a modern AU series that doesn't stick very close to canon dynamics (and is based only on season 1 of Merlin, during which not much happens), so I think it would be pretty easy to understand even without knowledge of Arthurian legends.
It's a fairly common thing in Merlin fandom to have modern AUs where all the main characters are reincarnations of the canon characters and destiny brings them together again (usually Arthur paired with Merlin and less often Gwen paired with Morgana).
In this universe that's happened a lot of times but in this particular incarnation the timing is off, so Merlin is quite a bit older than Arthur, and Gwen and Morgana keep missing each other. Oh, and Merlin and Morgana are brother and sister! But yeah, The Universal Language is basically a long story about a young British lesbian (see icon) who's haunted by memories of her past lives. Let me know if I can help with anything else!
