Or like…the way he just sits down in the passenger’s seat of the Impala at the end, because apparently Dean couldn’t follow him back to the bunker? Sam, baby.

Oh yes. "We are PARTNERS!" and he goes and sits in his designated place as shotgun. Maaaan. I didn't catch that--just thought it was odd that he didn't even pick up his things from his car.

I don’t think it took any conscious effort for Dean to play him like a fiddle

Wow but Dean is GOOD at playing his brother. Whether he stays or goes--either way, Sam is still indulging Dean's nonsense. *shudders*

[Sam] blames himself for Garth’s predicament, though closing the gates would not have had any impact on the werewolf situation

When is this, though? I seem to have missed it. (I maaay have tuned out some of the Garth bits, so.)

YUUUUUP. It felt like more of the soft-pedaling I was so irritated at last week? Like, the visual of them driving off in the Impala together is so much more important to people than it making any kind of emotional or logistical sense, and so I got a little bit of bitter amusement at this being yet another hollow victory in the vein of Gadreel-as-viewer-expectation. And ofc Sam actually making a play for the keys would have (a) gotten too much crying from fandom and (b) been way overstating where Sam is in his willingness to engage in hostilities. I'm hoping he at least gives Dean as much of a freeze-out as possible for a couple of episodes, let him get his head on straight. Still, that'd be easier with wheels.

Half the reviews I've hit have gone on (and on and on) about how awful Sam was to practically disown Dean. After all the times Dean has forgiven Sam, Sam should just be fair and forgive Dean, especially since Sam has never, ever apologized for anything. I know they are seeing Dean the way he sees himself and completely ignoring what actually has happened, but if Sam had refused to ride with Dean the writers would be under assault today ( ... )

is Adam Glass the showrunner? And did he really spell plenty pleanty on Twitter? (sorry I don't watch the show but "Julie Plec" caught my eye when I clicked on the post and I ended up looking at that tumblr post!)

No, he's a writer. This only pops up once in a while, at least, but....like, I can understand that there was nobody with the seniority to fix the pervasive Elena issue. This is a little more irritating for being surprising.

And yeah, I think the lesson of this whole debacle is that one ought not tweet when in the throes of strong emotion. For numerous reasons.

I like the fact that Sam didn't let Dean get away with pulling the "family" card as he's done in the past. I like that he told Dean that he couldn't trust him.
But I didn't like that he got in the car and went with him. It's too soon IMO for them to be together in the same car. That gives Dean too much access to try to turn this back around on Sam. I hope Sam's new found clarity about what Dean has done doesn't just disappear. He can't let his guard down nor can he back away from his "terms". Dean is the one who needs to pull his head out of his ass and take a good hard look at what he's done. However, like you, I don't think he will apologize because he can't admit that he's wrong when he really is wrong. Especially, when it's something he's done to Sam.
Sam, stay strong!

Yeah, exactly. The conscious willingness to admit that Dean may be full of crap is so new to Sam that I wonder if he isn't overestimating his ability to resist Dean's jerking him around. Like, now he thinks he sees through Dean entirely (he doesn't, not even a little, though it's possible for the first time ever) which means he's not able to know when and how to be particularly vigilant about Dean's bullshit.

Though, I think that Gadreel forcing Dean to be conscious of some of his lies and manipulations has put Dean way off his game in general, so it may not reach the worst-case scenario.

I was also "wtf" when Sam got into the Impala and that bright blue Charger was sitting there. It felt like a real defeat. God DAMN it.

I mean, I get that it's haaaaaard to break those patterns, but yeah, Sam really shot himself in the foot there.

I hate that front seat of the car it encompasses everything that is horrible for Sam . For alot of the fandom as long as he is glued to that seat , doing what Dean wants then all is right with the world . Sam's independence is seen as anti-Dean so therefore something to be destroyed and stumped into the ground and plus he was 'mean ' to Dean and disowned him .

Personally I would not of gone within a country mile of Dean but I am not Sam.

Seriously. H8 THAT FUCKING CAR. New dream finale: the Impala gets totaled. (CAN YOU IMAGINE THE FANDOM TEARS LMAO)

Unendingly squicked by how pissed people get at any mere reminder that Sam is a person.
