ITA about Breaking Bad not being "morally challenging." I'm surprised that this is apparently an unpopular opinion?

Right? I think it could be psychologically uncomfortable in its exploration of a particular type of immorality, and I think it does an extremely solid job with that particular focus, but that isn't the same as morally ambiguous. In fairness to fandom (STRANGE WORDS) I do wonder how much of that is people accepting the authorial POV, since Gilligan spent the entire month of October telling everyone who would listen about how he wanted the last few episodes to spawn ~vigorous debate.

the closest I've gotten is to say that IMO, while the characters on BB are morally ambiguous (or varying degrees of morally depraved), the...mind behind the 'verse isn't? IDK, there must be a better way of putting it than that but it's the best I've managed to come up with so far...

I see what you mean, I think. It's like watching a game where the rules are very clear but the players aren't particularly talented. It's not that it's inherently unexciting, it's just not the same thing as watching a game with no rules or ambiguous rules.
