I adore Bennett/Echo. They somehow managed to be potentially good for each other and doomed. And it all gets flipped around so many times even in such a short space of time. "Are you hurt that I used you?"/"I'm hurt that you won't." Bennett was so messed up and so capable of surprising us even way before it all went down. She just commits to it so thoroughly, you know? And so did Caroline in her Caroline way, covering for Bennett to the point that she didn't even compromise Bennett's career.
It's this weird place where Bennett blames Caroline for who she is, you know? It wasn't so much abut the arm as that she's still alone in Rossum's basement, letting her sanity slip away.
Which is so fucking dark. It's one of those DH relationships that's not built in anything we'd recognize as real, but it still is.

SO YOU GET FIVE CONFESSIONS OF AN EX-R/A SHIPPER. THERE ARE MORE BUT I WILL RESTRAIN MYSELF.
1. What an asshole. I didn't actually like him at the beginning but I did love the relationship and I tried for her sake. He is so not good enough for her. Not that anyone is, but especially him.
2. I really thought it was a tasteful portrayal of two people in an adult relationship, too, until that gross scene in early 4.5 (can't remember when) where they're in bed together like FUCK EVERYBODY LET IT BURN. It made me furious. Aside from the "SEX=MISERY for powerful women" implications, it was this total invalidation of everything that had come before as "will they won't they" which had, frankly, already been way overplayed with Kara and Lee for what, the TWENTY EPISODES before that ( ... )

- That poll delights me. A while ago, my ex-gf showed me this post from fivethirtyeight, and the numbers are so much more optimistic that I thought possible. The world we live in is changing and the violent pushback against that change is more a sign of success than it is of failure.

The other thing that boggles my mind is that they are banning an "word" that's actually used in the English language (as exhibited very well in the video above) besides what they think they are banning it for.
It's like silliness. Now I wish we had an olden day national anthem with the word "gay" in it and see how they'd deal with that... >>" *headdesk*
