Okay, so, really? It was all Crystal's fault. See, I was living with this girl--Sam--and working for her sister. That was how we met. And--I hate to use the U-Haul Dyke stereotype, but that's pretty much how it went. We'd been dating for a few months and my lease was up and she asked me to move in so... yeah. I didn't think twice about it. Meghan* was getting ready to go to London for her PhD and I was really upset about that, and Sam was a nice distraction. Her sister owned a gallery where I worked part time, but Sam's parents were paying the rent, so I had lots of time to concentrate on my art ( ... )

I love the idea of Valentine being an artist, a sculptor, and being content with where she is - that it's not always about ending up with what you started with, but how that changes along the way (if that makes sense. Which I'm pretty sure it doesn't). And yay! Family!
