One thing Tom misses about Ohio (and Tom doesn't miss much about Ohio at all) is the seasons. Specifically, Tom misses fall. He misses fall viscerally every time he steps out into the 65 degree LA weather. He misses fall when he looks into his closet (on those rare days when he's actually home) and sees his unused corduroy jackets and wool scarves.

He mostly misses fall when he wants to be alone, by himself, quiet, not funny, and all around him are smiling, sunny faces. Laughing actors, grinning producers, and sunny sunny LA all around surround him the day after his parts return to Ohio. He can barely smile, can barely hide it, and wishes more than anything that it would magically be fall so at least his melancholic nostalgia would match his surroundings.

Sam is nervous for many reasons, but first and foremost is the impending dread of being stuck in a car with General Thomas Bailey for who knows how long

Oh, this is adorable! It is good, it's funny and sweet, and I love the image of General Bailey on the verge of cracking up. Hee! Sam saying he'd never hurt Will, and meaning it, viscerally. Ooh, I like that. Plus, Sam bonding with the general over their love for Will <3<3<3

But of course, if you wanna give it another go, write another version of the two of them meeting, feel free! I'm not going to stop you ;)
