For day six, greeneyes73180 asked, LET'S TALK ABOUT THE WEST WING. ~*~Where are they now?~*~So, as a true fic writer, I have a million answers to this question, but I think the thing that's the closest mix of plausible + makes me happy in my brain is really my Iowa 'verse

Gah I have such trouble with Sam and Josh not having rekindled their BFFness, but I guess if you're building off of the actual seasons that aired and not the seasons that aired in our brains, it's kind of inevitable.

WE ALL KNOW THEY'RE PRES AND COS AND NOTHING, ESPECIALLY 3 SEASONS OF SHITTY TELEVISION THAT I SUFFERED THROUGH TO WATCH JOSH AND DONNA KISS, IS GOING TO CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE

Ugh, yeah, those last three seasons really throw off all the characterizations to the point that the happy ending that I wanted in S1-S4 is hard :( Like, just S1-S4, my answer would absolutely be the same as my answer to "What would I make Aaron Sokin write if he was living in Renata's basement, Misery style?" Sam as President, Josh as CoS, everyone else working in different jobs and learning and still being a tightly knit family.

But after what S5-7 did to Toby and Sam and even Josh, the state of their family just seems...bleak. Like, if I recall correctly, in this verse Toby is just so super bitter and really only talks to Josh and CJ and a little to Will. Josh and Sam are still not back on super solid ground, and Will still openly dislikes Josh. And...ugh. THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO BE A FAMILY! HOW DID YOU SCREW THIS UP SO BADLY, JOHN WELLS? HOW?!

Tbh, I think I've completely blocked out Toby's whole storyline because it makes me SO ANGRY.

Plus, if seasons 5-7 didn't happen, then can we pretend that Leo will stay around long enough to see Josh succeed and get together with Donna??? PLEASE?
