fandom's greatest hits

So, I was reading the New York Times this morning and saw an article labeled "The Broccoli Test."

"This cannot," I thought, "be about what I want it to be about."

It wasn't--it was about healthcare reform--but I tweet it and mcwonthelottery IMed me ( Read more... )

Eames and Arthur from Inception would pass, and A would get pissy because he says they could do better.

Almost all of my NCIS pairs would pass: Jenny and Gibbs, DiNozzo and Gibbs, Abby and McGee. DiNozzo and Ziva might need to work a little at it because she likes to screw around with him for shits and giggles, and he'd bitch her out in good fun.

Band of Brothers? Of course Winters and Nixon would pass with flying colors.

Doctor Who: I agree with comments from such_heights XD

I am old, too! I also am aware of the broccoli test, though of a different name. or rather, without a name at ll, just the idea.

...okay, so that made more sense in my head.

I think all of those mentioned above are very accurate. Especially the broccoli farm. WHich made me laugh, i can't lie.

Neal and Peter would pass, as would Peter and Elizabeth. Probably Neal and Elizabeth, too, possibly by fucking with Peter. Okay, probably by fucking with Peter.

Neal would show up at Peter and Elizabeth's house with the broccoli about thirty seconds after Peter realized he forgot to pick up a vegetable on the way home. Peter would have to make sure Neal didn't STEAL the broccoli before they ate it, though.

most accurate analysis EVER.

Also, Elizabeth and Peter would only barely pass -- because Elizabeth would realize that Peter was going to forget the broccoli, and pick it up herself. Or telepathically communicate to Neal that he should remind Peter. Broccoli-test telepathy, not real telepathy.

My favorite broccoli test is Scott and Logan. Logan KNOWS Scott wants broccoli, but he gets pizza rolls to piss him off.

PERFECTION

Well that is just FASCINATING. This is the first time I've heard of this, and god, HOW SO APT, FANDOM. I completely agree on your Charles and Erik assessment, btw! :D Charles would totally cheat! :D And the thought of The Ponds doing this is going to keep me happily grinning for ages. :D :D AMY'S HAND GESTURES WOULD BE A THING OF BEAUTY.

I am endlessly entertained by the thought of Inception's Arthur and Eames grocery shopping, mostly because it's just so mundane. Arthur would scowl a lot, and Eames -- come on, best Forger in the world, of course he would know what Arthur wants. But he'd make him jump through hoops until Arthur huffs and just goes to pick some up himself, whereupon on return to their grocery cart he'll notice that Eames has already got some for them ages ago. And there will be scowling, with concilatory kisses. :D

As for H50's Danny and Steve... I don't think Steve would even attempt to get Danny to pick up broccoli. Or if he would, he'd only do it for shits and giggles, to watch Danny rant. :D But seriously, they ( ... )

Oh my GOD yes. Danny would be all, "What? What are you making faces at me for? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE, STEVE? COMMUNICATE. COM-U-NI-CATE" and Steve would just keep on with the hand gestures...

Which he could not do, right, hand gestures are not Steve's area of expertise, let's be honest here. Danny would be all WHAT. WHAT. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN. USE YOUR WORDS, STEVEN, and Steve would be all 'bugger this for a game of soldiers' and sulk and get it himself, and then Danny would rant. Like, a lot. :D :D

Yeah, Steve's pretty much only good at hand gestures that involve grenades, let's face it. So Danny would be all, "I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU AND YOUR UNREASONABLE EXPECTATIONS" and fling his hands around like he does and meanwhile Steve's just "YOU SHOULD KNOW OKAY" and meanwhile Chin and Konu are like, "...we don't know them. No, seriously, never met them before in our lives. We're just innocently shopping for lunch here, DON'T KNOW THEM."
