So, they sent me home early from the new job because I completely lost my voice by twelve o'clock. I feel otherwise fine, but since my main job is calling people... yeah. Not much to do and apparently they don't want to pay me to sit around and drink tea and write fic

I watched The Orphanage a couple of years ago - it's a Spanish language film, right? I actually liked it though I don't really do horror films. It took me 4 hours to watch it 'cause I kept pausing it when I got too scared.

Yup, it is indeed Spanish. And even though I can see why people class it as a horror movie, I totally think it has a lot of merit outside of the genre, so I'm not surprised you liked it :)

Everyone on the internet was talking about how awesome it was so I was pretty psyched but... yeah. Underwhelmed. I'll probably keep watching it if I ever get around to it, but there's nothing that's pulling me to it, you know? I'll watch it because I like zombies and will watch pretty much anything horror-related, not because it's all that awesome.

Anyway, I wholly approve of your zombie idea already!

Re: Lake Mungo: I think if you watch it during the day when it's light out and maybe Christine is in the house but not in the room, you'll be okay. It's horror and not horror at the same time, and while the whole beginning is creepy, there are only two or three really supernaturally-horrifying moments. I'm trying to explain without giving it away, but... yes. Give it a try, and if it scars you for life, you can yell at me later XD

I mean, seriously, if you can't do it better than 28 Days Later (and you're probably not going to), then do something else.

I KNOW, RIGHT? And that scene in 28 Days Later is just so iconic and so stunning that if I was doing a zombie show, I would run the other direction from filming it that way at all. I haven't read the comic, so I'm not sure if that's how the comic starts out too, but even so, there has to be another way to do it that isn't 28 Days Later Lite.

2. I have never done Yuletide. I signed up once maybe 5 years ago and then my assignment was someone who requested 2 fandoms I'd never heard of, and then Corinthian/Rose Walker Sandman fic and I was SO TRAUMATIZED by that request that I could not write it and I just walked away forever. I guess in retrospect I could have looked up one of the unknown fandoms and come up with something, but, what the fuck, Corinthian/Rose Walker!? Corinthian/anyone WTF for that matter.

1. THANK YOU. I already do, a little. Ugh. I'm so embarrassed that I had to go home! I've only been there a week and a half!
2. People are weird. And yuletide is ridic. In the past, I've had a lot of fun, but last year every single step of the process (except actually writing the fic) was painful and unnecessarily hard and complex and THEN I got spoiled for my fic the day before the reveal and THEN I couldn't access my fic for like, two days because the server kept crashing. So, I am not doing it this year! Because it is not fun anymore! The end!
