ficlet the third!

Okay, I need to go to sleep! The third ficlet, for neurotictealeaf! She wrote me a lovely little snippet about Violinist!WillThis is... I don't even know! Um, in my headcanon, Will's dad plays the Oboe. It's how he met Will's mom. It's a long story, but in another fic, I had Will jokingly tell Sam that a good icebreaker, should Sam meet his dad in an official ( Read more... )

It is impossible for me to describe how much joy you just brought to my morning. Seriously. (I'll probably put together a more coherent comment when I'm a) not frantically writing a paper, b) have gotten, well, any sleep at all, or c) both, but for now....)

"The oboe. I just. You play it?" Oh, Sam. Words cannot not accurately describe my love of awkward!Sam, especially when paired with devious!General Bailey.

Other points of extreme flailing: Toby. Jed. "Cluster of angry squirrels" (an image that will doubtless stay with me throughout the day). Have I mentioned how much I LOVE devious!General Bailey?

Most awkward dinner EVER. Thank you so much :)

Yay! I'm glad you liked it, even though it's kind of stilted. IT'S HARD TO WRITE A HAVE A JOB. It makes my head hurt. Also, it's loud in my house.

I do not know where "cluster of angry squirrels" came from. I just looked down and it was there on the page.

Now I'm really tempted to write the actual dinner, except I don't think I can put that much awkwardness (awkwardacity?) into words.

I'm glad it works for you ♥

Ahahahaha!!! Oh, I love them, I love them so much! General Bailey! And Josh being all, WHAT?? And Toby going, oh for fuck's sake, Sam. Oh Sam. *pets him* You are adorakble. And now you're going to have dinner with the president and first lady, the (former?) supreme commander and his wife, and your boyfriend. How does he get himself into these kinds of situations?

Hee! I'm glad you liked it, despite the craziness involved in writing it and how bare it is :D

I love the idea of Toby and Josh in a room with Sam and Tom, but I feel like they ended up getting sort of sidelined in favor of Sam's freaking out. If I re-write this, I think I'll probably make them more of a presence.

But oh, Toby is one of my secret favorite parts of this. That line, "For fuck's sake, Sam!" and "I'm sorry, sir, while I'm glad that you approve of Sam's idiocy, I'm less concerned about how this effects you than I am about how this effects the President." were two of the hardest lines to write. The latter because I couldn't get it into Toby's voice at first, and the former because I couldn't come up with something that Toby would interject. I tried like, six different exclamations, but nothing seemed to fit until that one XD

Anyway, I'm glad you liked it! :D

"Christ," Leo mutters under his breath. YES. To all of this! Your Sam is awkward in the best of ways. And Jed! Leo! Toby! Josh! I love them all. And overriding it all is Sam and his brash and embarrassed affection. And General Bailey. He's awesome too. I get sad when I watch the show and he's not in it. But yes. I love it all this much! It's brilliant and funny and spot on and yes yes yes ♥

(I'm sorry if this makes no sense. I'm going to go sleep now. *g*)

Oh man, I had the perfect image of Leo in my head for that. Rolling his eyes and then covering his eyes with his hand and thinking about how many aspirin he's going to need when he gets back to his desk.

Sam and his brash and embarrassed affection
Aw, this is it! This is perfect! This is exactly Sam, wrapped up in a neat little package. ♥

I get sad when I watch the show and General Bailey isn't in it either! Of course, John Wells would have probably just mucked him up.

But, heeee! I'm glad you liked it! I'm glad it worked! Yay!
