is this really what Coldplay is like?

My mom left on SNL and I can't tell if this is really Coldplay or just some hilarious SNL skit about a crazy band. Is this really what Coldplay is like? Some guy hitting a bell and another guy alternately dancing around and playing a little keyboard and two dudes on guitar ( Read more... )

I love when you get to have the down-low fandom conversations. It's so much fun.

I turned off SNL and switched to Lost reruns after Weekend Update (plus I wasn't looking at the TV during their first performance). But when I was in college (well, fake college before I transferred), in one of my media classes we watched a tape of Coldplay at the Grammys the night before. And the entire class was cracking up at Chris Martin on the piano, for the totally spastic way he was banging on it.

I am all about those coded fandom conversations IRL. And the Liberty Science Center. I haven't been there in forever, but I remember it being awesome.

It was really weird. I wasn't paying that much attention because when I am interneting, teevee is mostly background noise, but... yeah. It was kind of insane.

Re: LSC: They completely renovated it and re-did it. Like, entirely. I didn't even recognize it, but it seems much bigger. A lot of the stuff I remember is still there, if updated and reorganized, but there's all this really cool new stuff, too, including a whole section dedicated to communication and media which I didn't really get a chance to look at because we ended up there at closing :( So I definitely need to go back. The most tragic thing, however, was that the Touch Tunnel is gone. I couldn't believe it. The woman I was talking to said that it's the most missed exhibit and that everyone always begs them to bring it back, but I kind of assumed, from her tone, that wasn't going to happen.

Anyway, I give it an A++ and plan on returning as soon as possible.

What I remember the most about LSC (besides that giant k'nex thing that came down from the ceiling and expanded and contracted) were a) the virtual reality basketball game and b) an exhibit on bridges that scared the hell out of me. It showed footage of a bridge in Seattle swaying that haunts me to this day.

*snort* yeah...i noticed how that was actually the same parking garage. i'm sure it says something deeply profound about epic journeys taking you right back to the place you started from.

or, perhaps, we're just idiots.

anyway, my email address is the highly creative neurotictealeaf@yahoo.com

yay having friends in NJ!

Hey, it totally felt like a different parking garage. Or something.

I added you to my local friends e-mail list! Also, as a warning, I post like, ninety times a day. Except I didn't post at all today. But usually I post about ninety times a day.

Also, I'm totally psyched about the having friends in NJ thing! I can't wait to brag to everyone that I have a friend.

Do they realize they're doing it? It seemed to sincere? Or maybe not. I was really only half paying attention.

ANYWAY. I am very glad that I have someone locally to squee with!

It is awesome to have a local friend! Go you!

And go you for helping make the evening work. It's not easy, but someone has to do it (I tend to be that someone as well, so I know).
