theatre and stuff, but mostly joy.

Here's a fandomy thing that I've been meaning to say that mimimeowtonight's entry about The Farnsworth Invention reminded me of.

So, I saw The Farnsworth Invention on Thursday night with priscellie and Steven. It was really fabulous. Quick and sharp and moving and... all sorts of other wonderful things. I don't know why I expected any less--when Sorkin is good he's good ( Read more... )

SERIOUS ENVY.

But totally, I love the last part of what you said. Something really special happened to me today and I still can't believe it. I went and wept a little bit. And logically you know that it's just a computer and just a game, but it's not, because all these people you don't even know thing you did something great, and...yeah. I can't even make it come out right.

Dude, next time he's got something in town you should come out here. I have it on good authority that I'm both awesome and a fabulous hostess.

Also, I saw that! Or I think I did? I've been sleeping at really awkward times lately and missing posts and getting confused about what day things are posted on, but I think I saw that and it's just fabulous. ♥

Damn geography for putting you on the other side of the country. LOL. But I would love to do that someday.

And thank you. I am polishing my fake virtual award of greatness that means nothing as we speak. Heh.

It's being joyful and being even more joyful because you can do it with someone else.

That's exactly iy. It's why meeting friends from Teh Internets can be so wonderful -- it's jut constant SQUEENESS. Which is why living in New Zealand kind of sucks sometimes, but never mind. :)

Oh. Oh. My heart just melted at your description of that scene. And so very Sorkin. And oh God yes, your little ramble about loving people loving things made perfect sense - and in the middle of it, I realized that that's a large part of why I love everything Sorkin touches. The dialogue and the humor and everything is great, yeah, but in the middle of it, there's a bunch of people who just love what they do. And fandom's just like that, even if, unlike Sorkin characters, we don't get paid for it. Just... YES.

Oh gosh, yes, that's so totally it. They love their jobs and each other and being able to do what they do and it just brings great love to ME as well. Everyone always says that Sorkin writes about workaholics, but the reason they work so much is that they absolutely love it and that makes all the difference. I can only hope to love my job half that much some day. OH SORKIN I LOVE YOU ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
