Today we have a story and a rant. Or plea. Or something. I'm going to post a little about my feelings on this story in a separate post, along with some other stuff about the Super Bowl and... it's all connected, I swear. But that's for later.

Planned Parenthood is awesome. I have a friend with strict Mormon parents and after she became sexually active with her boyfriend and had a pregnancy scare the folks at the PP in town really helped her out with all the tests and whatnot. They're awesome, and it's a shame that politics and the media are causing so many problems for such a great organization.

Re: Teyla's three men: AHAHAAHAHAH I KNOW. I used to be a HUGE Teyla/Ronon 'shipper, and in a way I kind of am, but since i know the show isn't going that way now I've tried to come to terms with it. But the idea of her being super frustrated with all three of them all the time is hilarious to me. I can totally see the boys being like, "Don't worry! We'll be here to help with the baby,.... hey, look, Teyla's crying tears of joy!" ".... yes. Joy. ::sob::"
Re: PP: I had a lot of issues with them (as you may recall), but they do provide a service that is desperately needed in this country and I can't begrudge them, as much as I occasionally want to.

As per Planned Parenthood: this is the perfect example of how our country glosses over the facts that matter and presents only the facts that will get the most reaction. This is why our teenage pregnancy rates are ridiculously high; our health system is in decay; our policies regarding women's health care are ass backwards. We like to think we're a super power, advanced and far above other cultures. In a lot of ways we're behind everyone, sliding backwards into the dark ages of ignorance in favor of religious fervor and arrogance. In other words I stand behind Planned Parenthood and any services they offer. I don't stand behind our lawmakers, their rotten policies, and how the flow of information in this country simply does not work.

Re: PP: I had a lot of issues with them in regards to the termination of my job and I really want to hate them, but I can't. They're too vital to the women in this country and they face too much shit for me to hate them in good conscience.

Needless to say, I was disappointed. They would not see me for like 2 weeks which made it irrelevant. I also had to be escorted into the place by "Pro-Choice Clinic Escorts" because of a crazy lady who was harassing patrons. I very calmly told her that not all of us go there for abortions when she came up and tried to whisper sweet-nothings (pro-life propaganda) in my ear. She was not amused.
