Gouto looked like he was trying to spit out his tongue. Then he threw up.
"EWWWW!" Narumi yelled, aghast. Raidou hastened from the breakfast table to clean up the mess and soothe his ancestor. With fur on end, Gouto looked twice his size.
"Don't touch it..." The detective warned, though he was grateful when damage control wasn't his problem. The cat shrank away from Raidou's hand and daintily skipped off, eager to hide. Narumi kept grumbling as he lit a cigarette.
"Stupid cat... If he hadn't missed the Persian rug..." He trailed off momentarily. "... hadn't missed the rug I'd run him over. Spoiled cat." He tapped a thin cylinder of ash into a Chinese tray. It burst on the surface, scattering over a view of painted lilies. Raidou was silent where he knelt but for the rasp of straw on lacquered wood.
