So, let's quickly look at the elements of Rodney's nightmare:
- Stuck in the middle of the ocean.
- Dependent on physical prowess to survive.
- Stuck in a storm.
- Stalked by a whale.
- Berated by John.
So many of these things are reflections on events he's already lived through on Atlantis - the 'jumper crash in "Grace Under Pressure," being held hostage by the goons in "The Hive," all of the events of "The Storm"/"The Eye," suck in the 'jumper under water being "attacked" by whales in "Echoes," just to name a few. My heart really just aches for him.
There is more that can be said about this by people who haven't been awake for 3094829034 hours (five of which were spent driving, followed immediately by six at work), and perhaps I will elaborate on it more tomorrow or--more likely--when the episode actually airs.

Oh, wet!woobie!Rodney. The love.
(Note: These are just straight caps with the levels slightly adjusted. I'm too tired to do anything else to them.)

On that note, bedtime for me. Well, first a whole lot of sinus drugs, then bedtime.
