I went to a public consultation put on by the Ontario Human Rights Commission the other day. I am very sorry to hear about your rental woes. I was I was reading your earlier (end of April)entry about not being able to secure a 12 month lease, and was very surprised. As a superintendent of a residential building, I often have difficulty finding tenants that are willing to commit to a year. I will not rent out units on a short term basis, and many are hesitant to sign the full lease ( ... )

I had no idea that you are a landlord now. Did I know this at some point?

I do see the business reasons you are talking about. Lot of tenants are unreliable. At the same time, there is something seriously wrong when "undesirables" can't expect to find reasonable housing because they don't fit into the right classes. As I wrote, I don't know if the Human Rights Commission is the right way to approach this. It's difficult stuff.

Because you have been on both sides of this fence, I would encourage you to participate in the Ontario Human Rights Commission process. They are accepting online submissions to their surveys: http://www.ohrc.on.ca/en/issues/housing.
